I believe that the combination of our main product, digipack and adverts combine nicely to create the artists image.
However I think in this genre of music that the artist’s image is constructed differently than that of a more commercial mainstream artist. Even though our artist’s music could be considered fairly generic, there’s something about this type of music which is more genuine.
I believe this is down to the fact that it’s just an artist and a guitar singing about their emotions. However some People may think that a CU shot of the artist may be more appropriate such as Jason Mraz, so that it shows his emotions more.
However I believe that our shot is good due to the fact that since the artist is walking away in connotes the artists loneliness, while at the same time showing his guitar, showing he is a talented singer song writer.
This works very well from our point of view due to the fact that this is the image that we wanted to portray for our artist via the use of our ancillary texts.
Even though the artists image that we have made isn’t that generic compared to other artists in this genre, the main product and ancillary text’s go very well together to produce the image that we were trying to portray.
However going by Dyres critical theory that fundamentally a stars image is incoherent and "open". Dyre sais this is because of two key paradoxes. That the artist must be simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary whilst being present and absent to maintain their star image, this is what makes the consumer want to come back again and again to consume a similar product from the star because they never entirely forefil there need to understand or feel close to the star. I don’t think that our product and ancillary text’s particularly convey this image about our artist.
I believe this because I think we have combined our texts to convey an image of a normal person, who is going through a sad time of their life. Who is very talented at singing and playing the guitar. However I can see how people could interpret this type of artist to conform to Dyre's theory due to the fact that they are very naturally tallented and people apreciate raw tallent and want to consume more of it.
The general darkness of the digipack and the advert of a man in a suit, portraying a darker image, connoting depression which ties in well with the narrative of our video.

I think i will have to come in wednesday because it keeps appearing on the blog differently to the preview.
